SDPB & SDHSAA State Cross County Championship Coverage

Finley McConniel of Freeman Academy/Marion not only won an individual state title on Saturday in Rapid City at Hart Ranch, but it was also the most entertaining finish of the six races.

Faith Wiese of Flandreau won the ‘A’ girls individual cross-country title on Saturday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City. She finished with a time of 18:27.59, nearly a full thirteen seconds ahead of runner-up finisher Ellie Maddox of Sioux Falls Christian.

Northwestern’s Ella Boekelheide is now a two-time individual state cross country champion. The Wildcats junior won the ‘B’ girls race with a time of 19:07.52 at the state cross country meet on Saturday from Hart Ranch in Rapid City.

He pulled off one of the most stunning upsets in Olympic history—winning gold in the 10,000 meters at the 1964 Tokyo Games, a race no American was expected to win. His incredible story has inspired books and films, and he continues to share his message of hope and resilience on stages around the world.
