State education leaders say Western Dakota Tech’s leadership is stable following the passing of its president.

Ann Bolman died suddenly last month at the age of 60.

Retired superintendent Steve Willard spoke on the matter at the latest state Board of Technical Education meeting. He said he attended to fulfill a personal obligation to the late president.

He added acting president Christine Goldsmith has the institution’s full confidence.

“I just want to thank everyone who gave us well wishes for the passing of Dr. Ann Bolman," Willard said. "She was a great leader, and it took us all by surprise, and it was a terrible shock. We’re just thankful that Christine has stepped up into the role as our acting president. She has a good grasp on what goes on at the technical school, and we’ve put a lot of faith and confidence in her.”

Goldsmith has served as the WDT vice president for finance and operations since 2020. The search for an official replacement for Bolman is underway.

Following Bolman’s passing, a memorial scholarship has been set up at the school in her name.
