Augustana University receives student research, SD STEM education grant

Augustana University receives a grant to fund student research and STEM education in the state.

The South Dakota Space Grant Consortium awards AU approximately $45,000 per year through 2028.

Some of the funding is going to support three Augustana student research opportunities annually.

Over $10,000 of the grant will support STEM education for middle school students through a robotics competition on Augustana’s campus.

Thanks to the grant – Augustana is establishing the “FIRST Tech Challenge” - a program that establishes a robotics competition for high schoolers.

Jackson Dircks is a Freeburg, Illinois, native. He is pursuing a degree in English, Journalism and Secondary Education at Augustana University and planning to graduate in May 2025. He plans to pursue a career in sports journalism.
