Robb Winter is the department head and professor of chemical and biological engineering at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology – he leads a team that is working on the recently announced NSF grants on 2D materials, biofilm, and microbial research. In the past three years, the National Science Foundation has awarded $32 million in funding for research led by faculty from multiple institutions to expand human understanding of the microbial world.
