The Sanford Underground Research Facility is offering photographers a chance to capture behind-the-scenes images of the facility’s unique research.

It’s part of an international event called Interactions Global Physics Photowalk, and it’s open to both professional and amateur photographers alike.

It starts with a general contest to capture photos from the annual Neutrino Day festival July 12. The top photographers from that contest get a guided tour of SURF’s science spaces.

The best photos from those first two phases are entered in an international competition with winners from other research labs around the world. The overall winners will be featured in CERN Courier and Symmetry.

Information on how to register is available on the 2025 Physics Photowalk website.
