SDPB is proud to announce the launch of a new South Dakota sports podcast entitled ‘In Play with Craig Mattick.’ This new production will include some of the most in-depth sports conversations in the Mt. Rushmore State.
For over twenty years, Mattick has been a part of the state high school championship coverage on SDPB-TV.
Throughout his 45-year career in radio, Mattick has spent 40 of them in South Dakota, with his first job coming in the late 70’s covering Vermillion high school football and basketball games. Since 2001 until just a few months ago, Mattick had been the host of the show ‘Sports Talk’ on KWSN in Sioux Falls.
“Every episode we get together, we may deal with a specific person, maybe a program, or a theme to it, but allows us to talk high school sports in South Dakota,” Mattick explained.
Most who follow high school sports in South Dakota will tell you it’s special. For Mattick, he has enjoyed his time covering it as well.
“It’s a great state when it comes to high school sports. Whether we’re looking at the football greats or the basketball greats. From Mike Miller, Megan Mahoney, Mandy Koupal, the Roosevelt 111-game win streak, Macy Miller, and Chloe Lamb. All those athletes from year’s past, it’s been great to be a part of high school sports.”
In Play with Craig Mattick plans to release a new episode once every two weeks with each episode being made available on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify.
