Another year is in the books, but it's safe to say 2025 didn't disappoint. It was filled with some fantastic moments at the SDHSAA events. We wanted to share some of SDPB's favorite memories from the year. -

In what has become one of the most impressive runs in high school volleyball history for South Dakota, Harrisburg’s rein continues. The Tigers defeated O’Gorman 3-0 in Saturday’s championship match to win their fourth straight ‘AA’ title. -
For the third straight year, Chester has won the ‘B’ state volleyball championship. The Flyers defeated Warner 3-0 on Saturday night to win the title. -
The 2025 SDHSAA state volleyball tournaments concluded on Saturday, November 22, from Rapid City with Harrisburg, Dakota Valley and Chester winning state championships. Here's a rundown of all the placement matches from the day.

One of the first officers of the South Dakota High School Athletic Directors Association when it formed in 1973, Merlin helped launch girls track and wrestling programs, coached basketball and football, and served as both principal and athletic director. He spent 31 years in the Wall School District. Joined by his wife, Mary Jane, Merlin—now 90—may not recall every moment, but his passion for the kids and the Wall community remains as strong as ever.
