On Thursday, May 22nd at 6pm the Sturgis Public Library will be hosting Gamelan Raga Garnita. Gamelan Raga Garnita, which loosely translates as Joyful Heart, is a community musical ensemble based in Spearfish, South Dakota. The group seeks to offer an experience of the essential aspects of Balinese music and dance through education and performance. Gamelan is a music and dance-based art form that uses metal instruments, flutes, and drums to create complex interwoven melodies.
