In what has become one of the most impressive runs in high school volleyball history for South Dakota, Harrisburg’s rein continues. The Tigers defeated O’Gorman 3-0 in Saturday’s championship match to win their fourth straight ‘AA’ title.

For the third straight year, Chester has won the ‘B’ state volleyball championship. The Flyers defeated Warner 3-0 on Saturday night to win the title.

The 2025 SDHSAA state volleyball tournaments continued on Friday, November 21st, from Summit Arena at The Monument in Rapid City with semifinals and consolation semifinals.

At the high school volleyball tournaments this week, you’ll see plenty of sisters playing along side each other on the court. But the sister’s connection also extends to the benches when you look at Ronette (Metz) Costain of Harrisburg and Stacey (Metz) Knebel of Wagner. Both are head coaches with their teams at state, but for different schools.

It was a rematch for the championship in Class 11AAA this season. However, this time it was a different team hoisting the top hardware. Brandon Valley defeated Sioux Falls Lincoln 34-27 on Saturday night in Vermillion at the Dakota Dome to win the title.

It was a rematch from a year ago, but with a different result. Sioux Falls Christian held on late to defeat Lennox 28-24 in the 2025 11A game.

For the eighth time in the past nine years, Pierre TF Riggs has won the state 11AA football championship. The Governors defeated Yankton 56-35 on Friday night at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion to win the crown.
