Joseph N. Nicollet Tower, Sisseton SD

The Joseph N. Nicollet Tower in Sisseton climbs 75 feet above the Coteau des Prairies and offers views of three states.

The tower was built as a tribute to Joseph Nicollet, a French cartographer who explored and mapped the Coteau des Prairies for the U.S. Topographical Corps in the 1830s.

Anyone is free to climb the tower from sunrise to sunset year round. An Interpretive Center at the base of the tower is open Memorial Day weekend through Native American Day from 10am-5pm, Monday-Saturday, and from 1-4pm, on Sunday. Admission is free to the Tower.
