Pumpkin spice everything is in full swing everywhere. In fact, I just saw an advertisement for pumpkin spice dog biscuits. I could hardly believe it. People tend to fall into two camps when it comes to pumpkin flavored foods; they either love it or hate it. If you are in the ‘love it’ camp then read on.

I’m excited to bring you an easy Pumpkin Spice French Toast recipe. This particular recipe strikes the right balance of pumpkin spice flavor without overwhelming the dish. The pumpkin flavor is subtle complimenting the traditional egg soaked bread, which is already perfect. By infusing the egg and milk dip with a little cinnamon, vanilla, pumpkin spice blend, and pureed pumpkin, your typical French toast is elevated a notch. There is just enough of the pumpkin spice flavor to bring the spirit of the season to the breakfast table.

What I love about this recipe is that it is not pretentious. It is just a nice yet simple twist on an already beloved breakfast favorite. Finished off with a light dusting of confectioners’ sugar and a drizzle of warm maple syrup, this breakfast is one the whole family will enjoy.

Total Time: 20 min(s)  Servings: 4

3/4 cup milk
3 eggs
1/4 cup unsweetened canned pumpkin

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

2 tablespoons melted butter or non-stick spray
8 slices white bread

Confectioners' sugar
maple syrup

    Instructions

In a small bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, pumpkin, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice.

Coat a non-stick skillet or griddle with melted butter or non-stick spray.

Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture for 2 seconds on both sides. Do not let the bread soak very long.

Fry the slices long enough until each side is dry and speckled brown.

Dust the French toast with confectioners sugar and serve with warm maple syrup.
