Samantha Slaughter and Anezka Szabo experienced college volleyballs biggest accomplishment Saturday night as the University of Nebraska defeated the University of Florida 3-1 to win the National Championship.
Both Slaughter and and Szabo, freshman on the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball squad, are graduates of the Sioux Empire area in southeast South Dakota. Szabo is from Sioux Falls and a graduate of Lincoln High School, while Slaughter is an alumna of Harrisburg.
Throughout their freshman campaign, playing time wasn’t abundant. Szabo saw action in 26 sets, while Slaughter found playing time in seven sets.
Regardless of playing time, and statistics, both Szabo and Slaughter had the opportunity to be apart of the practice and preparation for a national championship volleyball program.
