SDPB Nominated for Four Emmys

South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) has received four nominations for the 2017 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The nominees include:

1) Persistence Paying Off– Nominated in the category of “Science/Environment”

For over a decade, compliance paperwork, poison ivy and rattlesnakes prevented excavation of a new cave in Wind Cave National Park. But the discovery of Persistence Cave has paid off, as recent excavations reveal thousands of years of Black Hills history.

2) Tales of the GridironNominated in the category of “Sports – Program Series (Outside of News)”

The stories behind rural South Dakota communities supporting their local football teams.

3) Deadwood Pioneer: A Face from the PastNominated in the category of “Historical Documentary”

Maps the work of the archeologists, historians, and forensic experts who pieced together the short life of a man whose skeletal remains were recently unearthed in a Deadwood residential neighborhood.

Winners will be announced at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences 2017 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy Awards Gala, October 7 in Bloomington, Minnesota.
