A $90 million high school is almost ready for students in Sioux Falls.

The hallways and classrooms at Jefferson High School are designed for interactive learning. Some classrooms have dividers that open up to create a bigger room.

Dan Conrad is the principal. He says the layout provides space for open discussions.

“It’s truly generating that collaborative space to say how can we partner in this learning opportunity for kids.”

Conrad says another important part of the school’s design is the windows.

“The unique piece is the amount of natural light that was being able to be brought into this school. So, it just naturally helps lift up the spirit of the school, keeping it upbeat and an engaging place to learn where kids want to come to school.”

The school will open this fall with 15-hundred students. Jefferson is the fourth traditional public high school in Sioux Falls after Washington, Roosevelt and Lincoln high schools.
